I AM trying to trace relatives of my father for a family tree project which I have been working on for more than two years.
I have six names and addresses of possible relatives in Derby which came to light when my mother died last month.
She never talked much about my father’s past or his relatives. My father was George Herbert Walker or he could have gone by the name of George Goodwin Walker.
He married my mother, Winifred May Mann, in October 1950 in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, but, unfortunately, he was still married to someone else.
He was tried and convicted of bigamy in Rotherham in 1957. He died in 1975.
I know that he had one daughter by his previous marriage, who lived in the Derby area. She was called Joan and her maiden name would have been Goodwin Walker or just plain Walker.
She was married to a train driver called Harry (I cannot remember his surname) and they had two girls, Christine and Lesley. The last time I saw Joan was in 1975.
We are now trying to track down Joan’s girls and a number of other names and addresses which we think may be connected to my father’s side of the family.
These are: Mr and Mrs J Doyle, of 17 Benson Street, Alvaston; Bessie, of 75 Peel Street, Derby; Manfield, of 1a North Street, Derby; Mrs H Purdy, 43 Peel Street, Derby; Mr and Mrs F
